Luke Roberts
Head of Growth, Consumer Genius
Luke has spent 20 years building lead generation operations that actually work. From the first days of pay-per-call technology through modern compliance frameworks, he has run the networks, trained the operators, and fixed the deals that fell apart.
Experience
In the early 2000s, Luke built call centre infrastructure for lead aggregators across insurance, home services, and financial categories. He learned routing, call quality, and the precise economics of a lead that costs GBP 8 but never gets reached because the number is busy.
He then spent a decade as an operational lead at a major pay-per-call network, managing call transfer quality, publisher compliance, and the regulatory minefield that separates serious operators from the rest. That is where he understood TCPA consent, Ofcom silent call rules, FCA Duty of Care requirements, and why a lead that looks good in a spreadsheet often converts poorly on the phone.
Most recently, Luke ran customer acquisition for an enterprise lead generation platform. He owned the verticals, built the sales process, and learned what buyers actually care about: not the volume of leads, but the percentage that turn into meetings, the percentage of meetings that close, and whether the customer will still be a customer in six months.
Expertise
Calls, not just leads. Luke's background is in call handling and routing. He knows the difference between a form fill and a qualified conversation. He knows why buffer time matters, why a hot transfer closes better than a cold call list, and why IVR pre-qualification changes everything.
Regulation across 11 markets. TCPA one-to-one consent, DNC compliance, GDPR call data protection, Ofcom quiet hours, FCA Consumer Duty, MCS solar accreditation, FENSA building control, RECC member requirements. Regulatory depth is competitive advantage. Luke treats it as such.
Vertical economics. Not all leads are alike. A solar lead has different qualifying criteria than a boiler lead. A funeral plan prospect has different objections than an invisalign prospect. Luke writes for specificity, not templates. He names the failure mode for each category and builds the solution around that.
Owned audience and comparison properties. Consumer Genius owns BestCompaniesFor.com and Comparison Genius. Luke understands the difference between renting audience through directories and owning it outright. Owned assets change the unit economics.
On This Content
Everything published under Luke's byline makes specific claims about FCA rules, TCPA compliance, Ofcom regulations, and operational performance. These are checked against authoritative sources before publishing. No invented statistics. No generic agency copy. No "in today's landscape" padding.
If you have questions about lead generation, pay-per-call operations, or how to acquire customers responsibly at scale, Luke's work is written for that conversation.
